Welcome to the Arid Zone - it's been a long, strange trip.
Story Ideas and tales cribbed from real life
An Update:
There is someone that is seriously interested in drawing this thing for me. We'll see what he thinks once he gets the cast list and story ideas. Heh
As for the ideas themselves? What will I be talking about?
Well let me see. I'm basically taking the ideas for the various strips directly from my life. Take, for example, my life since last Tuesday I decided to write my wed post for my personal blog on Tuesday evening, so as to get it out of the way and not worry about it. About 10 o'clock (Generally pretty early for me) I get on the computer.
Let it be known I have an old, cranky computer so I'm still using an old, cranky operating system. (Yes I need a new computer. Yes I need money to buy a new computer...*sighs* no I don't have a job yet.)
Before I write this blog entry I decide to finally install a controller my friend got me for Christmas. (See I hadn’t installed this yet because I was addicted to Final Fantasy XI for about 3 months... Now that I've kicked the habit I can get on to playing uber cool things like my SNES emulator. The super Nintendo is one of the all time greatest Gaming Consoles in the history of civilization FYI.)
I installed the program that came with the controller and something weird starts happening. I started getting all kinds of .DLL errors.
So I restart my computer... Windows won't even load; I get a “windows protection error” message.
Crap if I know what that means…
I couldn't get my computer to jump start at all. This freaks me out a bit, since my life pretty much revolves around working on my computer. Yes it's old and need to be replaced; but dang it I do ALL kinds of things with it. (Photoshop, music editing, writing, games, etc. etc. etc.) It is a vital piece of my life.
After about four hours of fiddling with the machine I crap out and go to bed Wed is spent trying to load up windows on the smaller of the two hard drives I have in the machine. Guess what? I don’t have a floppy drive on the computer so I can't load the boot up disk
Dang it.
Those two sentences reflect literally hours of work I tried everything I could think of. I even called a friend who works in the computer department at a hospital... He said it sounded like my drive was failing.
Not what I wanted to hear.
So now my task went from getting my computer working to just getting the information off the hard drive I had neglected to back up.
(Digit the digital elf says “Remember Kids! Always back up your hard drive!”)
So I switched the drives around again, this time totally removing the smaller of the two drives Lo and behold, I was able to load windows again and then the upgrade.
For now the errors are gone... I used a registry cleaner to get all the programs associated with their respective files again and then I ran the disk fixer upper utility.
My computer is fixed, but a bit slower then it was before. I think the hard drive will be gone soon and I am currently tasked with getting all my important documents onto a burned cd.
I'm also going to take the hard drives out of a broke Xbox I have and also out of my ps2 (Since I'm not using the hard drive anymore) and use those as replacement hard drives until I can get a new system.
Whew
Anyway that'd be a story line, but I'd try to show more of the frustration and horror of realizing that *everything* you've done in the last few months might be nothing but pieces of digital dust.
Another story line I'll will revolved around my 1000 mile round trip to get (unknowingly when I started) dumped by my then girlfriend.
Or my impressions of going to a Sci Fi con for the first time.... Which happened to be Dragon*Con in Atlanta. Talk about sensory overload.
Or how I found out my best friend of 10 years became engaged.
Of course I'll have to throw in the occasional (or not so occasional) flights of fancy; scenes from stories I'm writing or pen and paper RPG games I'm playing
Yeah... I have a ton of ideas for stories to comic to virtual space of the net.
Now is anyone interested in seeing my warped view of my life in comic form? Heh who knows… I’ll have fun and hopefully people will it enjoy it along the way.
