Welcome to the Arid Zone - it's been a long, strange trip.
Found my notebook
But I lost my artist. Wow go figure....
Because of some personal things he had to cut back on work. My project was one that, unfortunately, got the axe.
However I think he made the right decision; I just have to find another artist now.
At least I have some finished scripts so I can send them to people to look at
I have a few options:
One: I would learn to be a cartoonist. Not necessarily an 'artist,' I'd probably only be able to draw a cartoony type of style. I'd be a writer that could draw a bit. I'm actually working on this anyway; a friend of mine sent me a very good pencil set for my birthday last year.
Two: I could set this up as sort of a round table for aspiring artists. Every 8 weeks or so I could have a new artist come on board to draw the next 8 weeks of cartoons. Since I'll be updating once a week, that'd be two months of comics. I'd need 6 artists for a year.
Three: My friend has a son that is an *awsome* artist. I've already talked to the dad and he's agreed to sale his son in to indentured servitude. I'd have to cloth and feed him; but there is a corner of my room that he can huddle in for the night. IF he doesn't make any noise.. then I'd have to beat him.
So I have a variety of things to mull over. I do want to learn how to draw; but honestly if i had to do the drawing it would set the project back a couple of months (at least.) If I did the rotating artist thing the script would be getting, basically, a new look every couple of months. I don't how people would react to that. As for my friends son; he is in his early teens. He can be a bit mouthy; yet the boy does have talent. I know this would be his first major product. I don't know if I want to put up with a mouthy teenager however... Yet maybe away from his parents he'd be a little less mouthy; I know that's how I was.
So this is a set back, but my artist friend and I did have some talks about the strip. Some of his ideas have already been implemented. (One of the strips is something he wanted to do; it turned out well.) I hope everything works out well for him; I know we'll stay in contact.
BTW go to this website:
Commissioned
It's a web comic I've been reading for the past little while. I really enjoy this guy; he knows RPG geeks like me. I've just started talking to him via email about the whole webcomics thing. I'll let you know what we've talked about in my next post (saturday or sunday.)
I'm not making a decision about the artist thing until next week. I'll let you know what I decide on tuesday.
Anyway, adios 4 now.
Stay random.
