A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken
I loved this book.
It's not science fiction, it isn't fantasy. Heck it isn't even fiction, but this is a book that describes a relationship as I'd like to have.
I don't know if many of you have read it; but the love that the two main characters show for each other is awesome.
It is a book about love, faith, loss, and redemption.
A true story set throughout the forties and in to the fifties.
The reason I originally picked this book up is because of the fact that CS Lewis is listed on the cover; yes he is in there but he is hardly the main person.
There really isn't much more I can say about this book, other then pick it up if you haven't yet.
I haven't read the sequel (Under the Mercy) but I do plan on getting it. I don't see how it can compare to the first, but I'd like to see how the Author lived his life after the end of the original tome.
If you've read it tell me what you think. If you haven't, get it and read it then tell me what you think.
This has to be one of those defining books in my life, although I've rarely heard of it outside my own existance.
I sent my copy to a friend years ago; I hope she enjoyed it and eventually found the truth that is Christ. Who knows?
I'll see someday I'm sure
