Welcome to the Arid Zone - it's been a long, strange trip.
A bit about Random Encounters
So what is this wanna be comic about anyway? Well after years of reading web comics, A friend of mine and I decided to create one. He was suppose to draw and I would wel...write it. It wold be a mix of our jobs, our life, and the game Final Fantasy XI.
Well since then he's become to busy to help (Life you know) we've both stopped playing Final Fantasy XI (to much of a time waster) and we haven't worked together for five months.
However the idea still stuck in my head... I couldn't seem to find the right way to write it. Well fast forward a few months and I read the entire archives of a strip called "Something Positive." (BTW If you happen to look the strip up, be careful for it is a very R rated strip..) I didn't really like some of the situations these people were in, but it struck me that this strip was 'real.' It contained real people in (mostly) real situations. Despite the crudeness of the language and the situations the characters were in, I saw that this script was a true reflection of the writer/artists life.
I read through 4 years of back log in three days. Weird...
It struck me that I've never experianced this same sort of honesty in the Christian realm. Well I have, but generally not in the media side... It seems that many writers/artists/whatever are to busy trying to be 'CHRISTIAN' that they forget what being 'real' is like. We have to remember God loves us for who we are right now and often the molding process to being a better person isn't something that is quick and easy.
...
With those thoughts in my head I started writing the script. I'd base it on my life, all the characters would be people I know. I'd show the funny times as well as the hard times, exposing myself like never before...
So anyway, I'm searching for an artist that can take on the task of bringing this to life. I don't need ultra realistic art, just something to represent what I'm trying to say.
And that is how RE came about. :-D
